Every night before bed, Avery lays out her clothes for the next day. It doesn’t matter if she has school or not, she loves to completely style her look for the next day. Almost always, she picks out a dress. The girl has a thing for dresses. I always just attributed it to being a girly girl thing, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized she get’s it from her mama.

I LOVE dresses. The are easy to throw on, easy to dress up and dress down, and always look great. When I’m out shopping, my go-to is always to look for a dress. And with summer on the horizon, I wanted to find the perfect dress for a girls day out with my little A.

Last week, I made a quick trip to JCPenney to find some dresses for my summer wardrobe. As I was walking to the women’s section, I found this Liz Claiborne Shirt Dress and did a double-take. It’s navy, making it the perfect dress for outdoor barbecues this summer and it’s also great to dress up or down.

One thing that I love about Avery, is that no matter how you are dressed, she will always tell you that you look beautiful. Last weekend, I decided to take her out for a little date and have a girls day with just the two of us. I walked downstairs with my dress and ready to go and the first thing she told me was how beautiful I looked. I told her that I wanted to wear a dress just like her for our day out together. She loved the sentiment and couldn’t wait to twirl around with me.

We had the very best day doing only things that Avery loves to do, like getting our nails done and a visit to the local bakery for a sweet treat.

It was such a special day together and one that we will both cherish forever.
