When we first moved into our house, we fell in love with it because it was everything we wanted and needed very little work done to it. If anything, all the updates were cosmetic and something we could work on over time.

While the girls’ room,  Macks’ room, and the play room were first on our list, I am slowly but surely getting to the other rooms in the house. Our downstairs bathroom is tiny, but I always felt the paint color made it feel dated. I knew we wouldn’t have to do much to it, making it a quick and easy project. I fell in love with Chasing Paper when I did the accent wall in Macks’ room. It was so easy to apply and added such a pop to his room. With so many designs to choose from, I knew I’d find a perfect pattern for the downstairs bathroom.

As a sucker for gold and for peonies, I fell in LOVE with the gold and cream Peonies design. The print was hand-drawn by designer Caitlin Keegan and adds just the warmth and calm that I was hoping to acheive in the bathroom.

I took the weekend and applied the wallpaper by myself. It didn’t take long and because the room is square, it was fairly easy to apply. All you do to apply is peel the back off of the wallpaper and stick it on the wall, just like a sticker!

Rather than going out and purchasing all new hardware for the bathroom, I simply spray painted the old hardware gold and bought simple white hand towels from Target to give the bathroom a more modern update than it had before.

I also spray painted the outlet covers gold so that they would blend in well with the wallpaper.

I think eventually I will update the mirror and light fixture to something a bit more modern, but thankfully they go with the decor already.

I am so happy with the way that this bathroom turned out. It was the easiest makeover of the house so far. The bathroom has a completely different look than before and has the romatic, yet modern look I was going for!

(Disclosure: I did receive the Chasing Paper wallpaper for this project. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Chasing Paper really is THE BEST when it comes to affordable, yet stylish removeable wallpaper.)
